November 3rd

This week in math we will be finishing up our unit 3. This was a study of measurement, area, and perimeter. Our test over this unit will be Tuesday.

In reading, we are working on the story "Make Way For Ducklings". This story is a fantasy. If you find the opportunity, be asking your student is this situation or book you are reading reality or fantasy? Please make sure your student brings in their October reading calendar. Several kids are not keeping up with their AR tests. Please help them to keep up on this.

Our spelling paragraph this week is:
Honoring Military Veterans
Do you know any soldiers? Veteran's Day is a United States holiday. It is a day to honor soldiers who have served in our military. We can show respect by decorating cards of thanks for them. November 11th should be a day for remembering others.

Friday we will be visited by Primary Focus. It is a group of young people who travel and put on productions about our character traits. This month we are working on responsibility. Our Veteran's Day assembly with be Friday afternoon at 2:15.

What irregular month ahead we have! Mark your calendars:
Nov. 10th - No School
Nov. 11th - No School (Veteran's Day)
Nov. 21th - Early Release Conferences
Nov. 24th - No School Conferences
Nov. 25th - Early Release Conferences
Nov. 26th - Early Release
Nov. 27th - Thanksgiving
Nov. 28th - No School
It is very important your child is reading and staying up on AR tests. The early release days offer the opportunity and time to read chapter books. I will be assigning a chapter book for students to complete during this time. It will count towards their 20 minutes of reading and is an AR book.
