March 7th

Students have caught the reading bug! We achieved 2,500 AR points during the 2nd trimester. That is AMAZING and twice as much as last trimester! Please be sure your child is reading every night and is coming prepared to take an AR test the following day. We are continuing in our Communities Change Over Time unit. Thank you to all the families that have donated books to our classroom library. Unfortunately, books get damaged or misplaced so it is wonderful having help to keep our library stocked with wonderful books.

Spelling words for this week are:
bicycle, bifocals, biweekly, biplane, midstream, midnight, midpoint, midyear, autobiography, autopilot, autograph, disagree, dishonest, dislike, disbelieve, imperfect, centimeter, microscope, triangle, and unicycle.

We are still working on prefixes and base words.

The sentence is:
THERE IS NONE!!!

Math:
We are finishing up our unit on interpreting and organizing data, which includes probability. We will be testing this chapter on Wednesday.

Please help me! I have had another bag of candy taken from our classroom. These were fish that I used to specially recognize students that demonstrate the FISH! Philosophy. Obviously, this doesn't "make my day", but I'm trying to "choose my attitude". If you see your child with gummy fish - please let me know. I am not quite sure yet which direction I will take concerning treats since they seem to keep disappearing. Students love this little extra so I would like to not punish the group for 1 student's actions.

Don't forget Thursday and Friday are early release for conferences. If I scheduled a conference with you, please make every attempt to make it and be on time.

Have a GREAT week!!!
